Care and Maintenance of the Simple Saver System™ Liner
The Simple Saver System is used in a wide array of uses and exposures. The system is very resistant to deterioration in most uses. There are always some risks of exposure to chemicals and conditions which may be damaging to the Simple Saver System products. Thermal Design recommends that the system be occasionally cleaned or wiped down to remove dirt and chemicals, which accumulate over time to preserve the light reflectivity and clean appearance of the system.
The recommended cleaning solution is warm water and a common dishwashing liquid detergent. Mix about 1/2 ounce per gallon of water. Use a sponge or terrycloth towel to wipe off the liner system with the cleaning solution. Wring the sponge or terrycloth towel of most of the liquid solution to prevent dripping. Wipe down an area of 30" x 60" or whatever can be reached from one position. Then dry the area with a terrycloth towel to complete the cleaning process. Repeat this process until complete.
Using chemical solvents is not recommended and should be used very cautiously if they must be used at all. Occasionally some substance requiring a solvent may be used on the liner system. It is then recommended that the solvent be tested first on a small piece of liner fabric first. If there is any physical change, discoloration or any residue left on the fabric, it should not be used. The Simple Saver System standard polyethylene scrim liner fabric is very inert to most solvents; however, Thermal Design assumes no liability for use of any solvent in any particular use. We do not recommend the use of "Simple Green."
Pressure washer cleaning with the recommended cleaning solution is okay, however, keep the pressure nozzle at least several feet away from the fabric to prevent damage. Testing of the process is suggested before proceeding. Thermal Design recommends that the surface be dried off after this cleaning process to prevent corrosion to the support strapping, etc.
Call Thermal Design for a sample of the liner fabric to test solvents or pressure washing if you cannot perform the test on a small piece of the fabric at the site.
The Simple Saver System liner fabric can be easily covered, repaired or replaced by pulling out a new piece between the supporting strap platform and the existing liner fabric and sealing the perimeter with the Syseal™ Tape. Multiples of any grid spacing can be done this way. Always end the replacement fabric above a steel support strap to make the joint invisible.
