Instructions on Perforator Use
These instructions are for use in perforating the Simple Saver System™ by Thermal Design. Please carefully read the instructions below and call 1-800-255-0776 with any questions. The perforator should be returned promptly upon completion to Thermal Design’s Nebraska office.
Warning! Carefully read the instructions before using this device!
This hot melt perforator has the potential of electrical shock and/or heat burns if not carefully handled and used. Do not use this device unless you agree to waive any claims against, and agree to indemnify, Thermal Design, Inc., its affiliates, employees, and owners, under any theory of law whatsoever, for any injury or damages that could result from its use.
- The enclosed ground fault adapter must always be utilized when using the perforator. The ground fault is always plugged directly into the building’s electrical outlet.
- Use only industrial-rated extension cords.
- Check all tip nuts prior to each use to ensure they are tight. Heat will loosen them over time.
- Never set the perforator directly on its tips.
- Always allow the perforator to cool down completely before storing in its storage case.
- If the insulation is holding a pool of water above the fabric, cut two one-inch long slots in the fabric in the lowest spot. Hold the insulation up off the fabric with a screwdriver through the second slot, allowing the water to drain off.
- The fabric will perforate and melt a hole sufficiently when the perforator dial is set pointing at the “L” of the word LOW. Turning the dial towards HIGH increases the temperature and is not necessary for perforations.
Turning the Perforator ON:
- Please inspect the device for damage and if it is damaged in any way, to repair or return the device for repair prior to use. Safety is the first priority!
- Place ground fault into outlet
- Plug industrial cord into ground fault.
- Check that perforator toggle switch is in the OFF position.
- Check the perforator control dial indicator to point directly at the “L” of the word LOW. Adjust the setting to this position as necessary. This is the appropriate setting for perforating the Simple Saver fabric.
- Plug into outlet.
- Switch toggle switch to the ON position and allow the perforator to heat up for 5 minutes.
- Test with a piece of Simple Saver System fabric.
- Position the supplied aluminum template between the straps and the fabric.
- Place perforator through template holes for no longer than three seconds. You may wish to use a black marker on the template to lay out a pattern for perforating.
If the perforator does not heat up, check the following:
- Ground fault reset.
- ON/OFF toggle switch.
- 5 AMP (AGC-5) quick set fuse (extra fuses included).
- Electrical breaker panel.
If you have any questions, call Thermal Design at 800-255-0776.
