New Roof Installation Overview

The following information and detail overview is how our insulation and finishing systems are installed and shall ONLY be used to understand the basic process. It is important to follow complete manufacturers instructions for safety, performance and effectiveness. This is especially crucial when installing our fall protection insulation systems such as the Simple Saver System™ in new construction applications. The content of the complete manufacturers instructions contains proprietary information and are made available under the license agreement of use. Contact Thermal Design for further details.

Grid work of Tensioned Steel UVMAX™ Straps

The longitudinal and traverse straps create a grid work platform similar to a suspended ceiling. The straps are installed below the bottom plane of the purlins and initially only fastened at the primary structural members (rafters). UVMAX strapping is continuous length for faster and safer installation - field splicing is not recommended. Thermal Design provides specific strap and fastener locations for each bay in each building.

Large Custom Sized Syseal™ Fabric

The Syseal fabric liner is custom made to span the entire bay of the building with a single, continuous piece. The pleat-folded fabric is placed on the strap platform and one end is clamped into position, keeping the fabric square with the eave. The other end of the fabric is fed underneath each purlin and pulled tightly over the strap platform and fastened into position to the opposite eave. Fasten all straps and fabric at all purlin intersections. Trim the edges of the fabric where the purlins are fastened to the rafters and seal fabric around the bay perimeter.

Unfaced, Uncompressed Fiberglass Insulation

In new construction, metal building fiberglass insulation is the overwhelming popular choice to insulate using the Simple Saver System. The fiberglass insulation is unfaced (does not have a vapor retarder glued to the material) and two layer systems are the most specified and recommended. The first layer (bottom layer) is installed parallel, uncompressed between the purlins and the second layer (top layer) is installed perpendicular and atop the purlins. Depending on the metal building roof type, a thermal spacer block is installed at the same time as the roof sheets.
